Here’s a great new way for American families and communities to have a blast turning the tide on all kinds of Thanksgiving stereotypes: Time Travel to 1621!
Honestly… the Plymouth story is not what you and I heard when we were in grade school. The costuming, the Indians, the cultures, THE PIRATES (yes, pirates!), and more all make for such a different perspective than what most Americans now have.
Our family took the plunge in 2007, and we will never go back to the status quo! Our favorite activities include playing the period card game of Mawe (using a reproduction deck of period playing cards), and playing stool-ball. Of course part of the hilarity is just trying to speak the Olde Engish language!
LetsPlayHistory.org resources include our how-to manual (pictured here – truly a national treasure), squidoo lenses Squidoo.com/UniqueThanksgiving and Squidoo.com/1621TimeTravelers, and our sister websites, 3SunThanksgiving.com and IdeasThanksgiving.com. You’ll want to visit the Ideas Thanksgiving site annually since that’s where we post new ideas that didn’t make it into the book. You’ll love the site!
